Fandoms upset me

I have several pet peeves.  Fandoms are one of them.

You can hate on me for this but my opinion is very strong.

It's fine to like a tv show/movie/book/band/some other form of fandom.  It's fine to love it.  It's fine to say a certain show is your favorite show, or a certain book is your favorite book, etc. and for certain reasons.  It's even fine to love it so much that you set aside time to watch/read/listen to it, or do so with your friends or family, and so on.  That's just great.  That's what those things are there for.  However, when you start saying that this thing is your "whole life" or spending crazy amounts of time obsessing over it or analyzing things about it or never shutting up about it, that's when it turns from great to kind of pathetic and annoying.
Constant fan-made memes of your fandom are not interesting to see on Facebook.
Nobody appreciates it except the other people in your fandom who are as lost as you are.
Instead of making friends with the characters of your fandom, try having a real life and making actual friends with real people.
Remember that you are your own person.  Why be defined by a character someone else made when you can define yourself?

At the end of the day, it's just a tv show.  Just a movie.  Just a book.  Just a song.  It's made up and it's meant only to entertain people.  That's all it should be taken as.
