What Bothers Me: Facebook

There are a lot of things that just...bother me.  Facebook is one of those things.

I like the idea of Facebook, it helps everyone know what's going on in everyone else's lives and makes you think you have people who care about you even when they actually don't.  And see, that's the thing that bothers me about it; I don't actually care about 80 to 90% of the things people post on Facebook.
At this point in your mind, you're surely judging me for being an insensitive hater.  And it's true, I really shouldn't be on Facebook if I don't care what anyone is posting to the point of complaining about it to the public.  The thing is, I'm bored and just as insecure as everyone else who needs Facebook to assure them that they have friends, so I stay on social media.
But really, honestly, some of the things people post are things that really no one cares about.  I can't possibly be the only one who is annoyed by their Facebook friends at times.  And here are the most annoying examples:
1. Posts about how absolutely amazing your significant other is and how thankful you are for them.
(Especially when these posts are frequent.  The first time it's sweet but after that we just think "that's nice, I'll just be here with my pint of ice cream on the couch...alone...")
2. Political statements.
(Not only do I not care about politics, but I also don't care what you have to say about them.  The stronger your opinion, the more annoyed I am..especially if you're too young to vote anyway.)
3. Controversial statements.
(This kind of goes along with political statements, I don't really care about your strong opinions.  But worse than that, when you post controversial things, everyone who reads the post will be silently judging you.)
4. "Look how much fun I'm having without you!" posts.
(The first couple of times, again, I don't mind.  But when you're repeatedly having parties with everyone and posting a bunch of pictures, it makes the rest of us feel worthless.)
5. Vague statements about your personal life.
(If you're going to tell us how you feel but not why you feel that way, why did you post it for the whole world to see?  Honestly, just send a private message to the person you're mad at...)
6. "Hacked" posts.
(If you have the opportunity to hack your friend's Facebook account, you should really think of something more creative to say than that they think you're amazing.  Obviously they already love you enough to let you hack them.  Instead, try posting their cell phone number or an ugly photo of them.)
7. Multiple photos of yourself.
(Outside of new profile pictures, we don't need to see so much of you.  And it's making you look self-centered.)
Of course, the list goes on and on, but I think that pretty much sums up most of what's up on Facebook.  Now before you think I'm truly the most hateful person you've ever met, let me give you a list of things I actually like to see on my news feed.
1. Funny pictures.
(Who doesn't need a good laugh?  Unless it's about your fandom, and then I don't care.)
2. Inspirational quotes/photos.
(Social media can be a great place to inspire people with uplifting messages.  Of course, only if they don't become too controversial.)
3. Funny/embarrassing stories.
(Because we all need that entertainment in our lives.)
4. Actual important announcements.
(i.e. mission calls, being accepted to college, getting engaged, having a baby, etc.  But again, only in moderation...no excessive posting is good.)
5. Pictures of your adorable kids.
(But not pictures of someone else's adorable kids.  It's cute, but it confuses people because they think you have kids now.)
6. School schedules.
(I usually don't care about those so much but I realize that so many people do care about them that I think it's okay and somewhat useful.)
7. School dance pictures.
(These annoy me a great deal unless it's only one picture and you don't post several other status updates about how much fun you had.)

And there's my bout of anger for the day.  I'm not trying to be a terrible and hateful person, and this is probably a horrible way to start a blog, but this is how I feel.

Well. I guess I'll go check my news feed again...
